We got straight back into after our Easter break, we had an amazing visit to Croke Park, we had our Active Schools week, Walk-All-Week (where we won the Golden Boot for our efforts on walking, scooting, cycling, and parking and striding), Food Dudes, GAA, Football coaching along with learning all about the Zoo and the different types of animals we might see there. We really enjoyed running our laps around the Active Walkway and we even did a Maths Trail around it, and a special exercise circuit for Active Schools week.
March was great fun, between our new Active Walkway being built and running across Europe (with a special visit to O'Toole's for our final run) and our great Easter and St. Patrick's Day activities we had a ball in Room 10 this month. We were really lucky to have a visit from the Easter bunny before we finished up for our two week break. What a busy month!! Considering we had a mid-term break in the middle of the month Room 10 were the busiest bees. We celebrated, Valentine's Day, Pancake Tuesday, the start of Lent, Friendship Week, learnt all about France, had a special visit from a Science Workshop with a robot dog, an Olympic gold medalist from the Irish Paralympic Basketball team. We became engineers and used blue prints to design our own towers and then picked equipment to bring them to life, all while working hard on our reading, writing, Maths and Gaeilge. Happy New Year from all the boys and girls in Room 10. We have loved starting off 2024 with our pals again. We have been learning all about the number 8, and have been enjoying using different materials to create 'The Story of 8' this month. We have also been learning about the Estate Agents in Aistear, had lots of fun with Chris from O'Toole's in P.E and are looking forward to Spring time and the better weather. It's always the busiest time of the year for us, there is so much to celebrate and so many extra events! We love getting to do lots of art, music and visits and special visitors! You can see below some of our art, some of the visits we took to the crib, along with our Jingle Bell jog and Santa visits. We are looking forward to our Christmas break and coming back to school recharged in 2024! We really enjoyed this Month, there was lots of things going on in school like Science Week, Dare to Believe active challenge, Wellbeing Week, The Cafe theme for Aistear - we have been so busy but have had such fun!!! You can see this month we were busy bees in Room 10! We had a GOAL Jersey Day where we all wore in a jersey of our choice, and we did some spooky Halloween bats. We also had Maths Week, we marked this with a Maths Dress-up Day, a Maths Trial around our school, some Maths games on our iPads and some scary Shapenstein Art which we displayed outside our room.
We also had our Halloween Midterm break at the end of this month. We had a little Halloween concert in the hall when we were dressed up, we also did our annual Fundraiser 'The Witches Walk' and we visited the local green area where some of our wonderful community had decorated it like a graveyard, Welcome to Senior Infants!!! We are so happy to be back to school with all our friends in Room 10. We've settled into our routines really well and have enjoyed our Team Teaching, visits to the school library, iPads on Fridays and getting back to Aistear.
June was the busiest month yet, between Wellbeing Day, Dogs Trust Visits, Sports Day, petting farm visits, and Cake Sales. Safe to say we were exhausted but full of excitement every day with so many events, visits and trips. We really enjoyed our final month of Junior Infants and have grown so much since September. A big thank you to North Strand Fire Station for coming out visit our school this month. We were really grateful they spent some extra time with the Junior Infant classes showing them all the fun parts of their job. The boys and girls in Room 10 and 15 had been learning all about the Fire Station in Aistear and had a very good knowledge of the equipment, uniforms and the job of a Fire Fighter. We were beyond excited when we saw the Fire Truck with it's flashing lights and sirens on pulling into our school yard. The boys and girls loved getting to practice with the hoses, wearing the white Officer's helmet, and getting to put the sirens on when they answered a very special question from the Officer in charge correctly (What's the number you ring in an emergency?). All the Fire Fighters were very impressed that every child in Junior Infants got this question right and they even left us very cool certificates to say the boys and girls were part of Dublin Fire Brigade's Safety Team. Thank you again for giving up your time to inspire some future Dublin Fire Brigade recruits in the future!!! |
